The CARERS Program is an evidenced based group therapy program for family members caring for someone with dementia living in the community. The goal of the CARERS Program is to provide caregivers with psychoeducation, problem solving and communication skills and strategies for the management of dementia related behaviours.
Caregivers learn Problem Solving Techniques, a structured approach for addressing problems, and are coached in caregiving skills through the use of simulation.

Representatives from health and community support service agencies with an interest in training some of their regulated health professionals to provide CARERS groups in their organization or community are invited to attend a general information meeting on August 30, 2017.

This general information meeting will provide more information on the organizational requirements for delivering the CARERS program and upcoming training dates. Some limited project funding may be available to help cover the cost of CARERS training for organizations in the 416. Details will be provided at meeting.
